The Rice Owls SOAR Network is a collaborative engagement platform ensuring that Rice student-athletes and letterwinners have greater access to the services, programs, and resources available to them both during their time within the hedges and for their life beyond the hedges.
Supporting student-athletes' transitions in, through, and beyond Rice University, SOAR provides greater access and accessibility to campus and community resources, furthering Owl student-athletes' ability to think critically about their position on Rice's campus, among elite Division I institutions, and globally. In collaboration with campus and community partners, Rice Athletics provides opportunities for personal growth and professional preparation, ensuring that Rice student-athletes are positioned to prosper, and that Owl alumni are equipped to soar.

Awards & Scholarships
The "R" Association provides two postgraduate scholarships, the Stancliff-Sass Scholarship and the Stancliff-Duckett Scholarship, to graduating senior student-athletes in pursuit of an advanced degree. These scholarships are named in honor of past letterwinners and are presented at the annual Night of the Owl banquet. The 2019 recipients are Nicole Lennon '22 (Volleyball) and Jacob Dodridge '22 (Football).

Mentorship and InternshipÂ
The "R" Association works closely with Rice Athletics Student-Athlete Development to further mentoring and internship programs. The Student-Athlete Opportunities for Advancement through Rice values (SOAR) Development Program provide a tremendous opportunity to connect past Rice Owls with current student-athletes in pursuit of their professional goals.Â
Events
The "R" Association hosts numerous events for letterwinners and current student-athletes throughout the year, including Reunions, Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, Scholar Athlete Banquet, Night of the Owl and various recognition, social and fundraising events.
